41-Megapixel Nokia Lumia 1020: Everything (we think) we know so far

Which phone has been your favorite so far? Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One or iPhone 5? Certainly these devices are so hot and sell well around the world. It means a lot but it doesn’t mean everything. Now you have a new choice. How about Nokia's new Lumia 1020? Ahead of the formal announcement in New York on Thursday, details are leaking about the Finnish company's latest device for the U.S. market. Nokia Lumia 1020 is getting a lot of attention for its impressive 41 MP camera. Here’s what we know:
1.  Specs
The device will have a 4.5-inch display and quad-core microchip. It features optical image stabilization, an FM radio, near-field communication tech, 2GB of memory and 32GB of non-expandable flash storage, per the previous link. Oh, and wireless charging will be an option.

2.  Color – Yellow, Black and White
According to Windows Phone Central, Nokia Lumia 1020 will come in white, yellow and black colors.

3.  Mobile Name – Lumia 1020
Over the weekend, Microsoft Windows Phone manager Joe Belfiore posted on Flickr a series of sample images from different Lumia Windows Phones — two of which were shot with a phone tagged as the "Lumia 1020." So this smartphone will launch as the Nokia Lumia 1020. And it will be a Windows Phone, per this unconfirmed press photo and unconfirmed field photo.

4.  Camera – 41 Megapixels
Its differentiating feature will be a camera. Nokia gave us "41 million reasons to zoom in" a few weeks ago, and the company in February introduced a 41-megapixel camera. That was followed by a Guardian report saying it would be taking that tech to Windows Phone handsets.
Additionally, the Lumia 1020 will use Nokia’s Pureview sensor (also featured on the 920 and 808) to take high quality images in low light situations.  The 1020’s camera is also expected to include sophisticated (if not new) photography options like: Optic Image Stabilization, LED and Xenon flash, a “lossless zoom” feature, and settings for ISO, white balance, manual focus, and shutter speed. Its camera "takes the image in 32MP and 5MP at the same time in 16:9," according to Windows Phone Central, and "shoots 38MP in 4:3."

Rumors have also been circulated that the Lumia 1020 has appeared on AT&T’s inventory list.  This all but confirms that the device will be officially announced and demonstrated this Thursday, and indicates we’ll most likely be able to buy it within the next month.

Nokia Lumia 920 vs HTC 8X vs Samsung Ativ S,which windows 8 phone would you buy?

Windows Phone 8 is going to launch next week. Microsoft is gearing up for the launch of the Windows Phone 8 operating system with a number of handset manufacturers announcing new smartphones for the platform, such as HTC ,Nokia and Samsung, in order to complete with Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS.

When it comes to Windows Phone 8 it’s clear there are three major choices at the moment, the Nokia Lumia 920 or the HTC Windows Phone 8X, or the Samsung Ativ S.

Few Days ago, Best Buy has opened up pre-orders for the Nokia Lumia 920 and the HTC Windows Phone 8X, according to WPCentral. Nokia Lumia 920, which ships with 32 GB of on-board store, is available for $149.99 with a 2 year contract, while at the same time, HTC 8X, with 8 GB of on-board storage, costs just $99 with a 2 year contract. Both devices cost $599.99 unlocked. Best Buy began accepting pre-orders for the new Nokia Lumia 920 on Sunday, but the link to the product page has since been removed. Samsung ATIV S price remains a mystery, but retailer Handtec recently took a stab with a whopping £431.99. Obviously, HTC 8X and Samsung Ativ S is cheaper than the Lumia 920, but I don't think it is a good idea to leave the Lumia 920.

The Windows Phone 8X will be available in November from 150 carriers including AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile in the US. Lumia 920 will be exclusive to the mobile carrier for the first six months after the phone’s launch.

The thing is, we’ve been looking at the tech specs again and actually the Nokia Lumia 920 is better suited as a rival to the  HTC Windows Phone 8X and Samsung Ativ S, This would leave the Nokia Lumia 920 as a true flagship and device of pure innovation, what do you think?

Samsung beats Nokia to Windows Phone 8 ?

Samsung won Nokia at the battle who first releases the windows phone 8 devices. But it means Samsung beats Nokia to Windows Phone 8? May be it remains to see. At least, the Nokia have confidence that the Samsung is only a warm-up act for Nokia.

What the Nokia will bring to us about Windows Phone 8? It will see on September 5.

Samsung could be building Windows Phone 8 devices

Think of Samsung and Android comes to mind. The Korean tech giant may be synonymous with its Galaxy S smartphones, but it could be building two devices for Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 platform.

The information surfaced in court documents revealed during ongoing the Apple-Samsung trial, displaying Windows Phone 8 devices. "Odyssey" is a codename for a phone, featuring a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor and 4G LTE. There's also a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display, along with an 8-megapixel camera. Samsung describes the devices as "iconic".

The second device is dubbed "Marco" and has a 4-inch Super AMOLED display and 4G LTE support. Samsung omitted the "iconic" branding adjective for this device. It's not the Omnia M, launched August 1 in the UK. The device does feature a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, but runs Windows Phone 7.5 Mango and doesn't offer 4G LTE. The UK, currently, only widely offers 3G.

It's going to be interesting to see if Google continues to warmly support Samsung. Microsoft undoubtedly wants high-end devices from the company, especially considering the success of the Galaxy S3. Nokia sold 4 million Lumia devices, a fraction of the 10 million S3's that Samsung has sold in just over two months.

Forbes suggested that Samsung's development for the platform could encourage skeptical manufacturers. Samsung launched the Omnia 7 smartphone during the launch of the mobile OS, but Windows Phone has struggled to gain momentum. A high-end device, along with Nokia's next phone for Windows Phone 8, could be the catalyst.

Samsung may simply want to broaden its smartphone portfolio. It may feel that its devices can hit a market (high-end) which Nokia hasn't dominated.

Also interesting is how Microsoft approaches its relationship with Samsung. Nokia and the software giant have a close relationship, so will Samsung's devices be as striking as the Lumia 900?

Forbes predicted that the market could shift from Android to Windows Phone 8. Considering Android's dominance alongside iOS, Google isn't going away soon. Samsung may be a stepping stone, but the catalyst could be the cross-platform development between Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. The success of Windows 8, and Metro - the UI used across the desktop and mobile OSs, will impact Microsoft's mobile operating system.
